Michael Hopkins and Enrique Torres have joined together to offer this innovative One Day course linking financial, economic and social issues under the rubric of Integrated Reporting. The course will cover the following topics:
- The Main elements of the Integrated Reporting Framework and Global Reporting Initiative G4 Reporting Guidelines
- Trends in integrated reporting
- Process for an organization to complete an Integrated Report
- Real life case examples of integrated reports
- Specific Next steps to achieve an Integrated Report
The above mentioned training course will be offered both as an open course and ‘in company training’ to organizations that are planning to do an integrated report.
Who should attend
The integrated reporting seminar series is for general managers at a mid or senior level who want to move beyond appreciating the business case for an integrated report to maximising competitive advantage through the strategy and integrated reporting process. It will also be of value to sustainability and integrated reporting practitioners, and users of sustainability and integrated reports, including investors, government, regulators and NGOs.
Certification
Successful completion of course through passing a short test will lead to the CSRFI Certificate.

Enrique Torres: Bachelor Economics (Monash Univ.), Masters Education (Melbourne Univ.)
Enrique Torres has worked in training and management positions for private, governmental and non-governmental organizations such as the Ministry of Education in Australia, the Mozambique Ministry of Education, Oxfam, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) over the last 20 years. He has worked in a variety of cultural contexts in Western and non-Western countries. In his previous positions, Enrique has also specialized in issues around organizational restructuring and project management. Enrique speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch.
Enrique Torres was the GRI Learning Services Senior Manager for 6 years up to April 2014. He established and headed the GRI Certified Training Program that is offered by around 70 GRI Training Partner organizations in over 65 countries worldwide. Close to 20,000 participants have completed a GRI Training Course since its inception in 2008. He was also responsible for an international program to raise awareness and build capacity amongst SMEs and key suppliers of multinationals on sustainability reporting. Enrique has given trainings in major international CSR events held in countries as varied as China, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Spain, South Korea, Switzerland, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the United Kingdom.
He now runs his own consultancy company providing sustainability related training services. His expertise is on the GRI methodology for using the G4 Guidelines for sustainability measurement and reporting. Since starting in May 2014, he has undertaken the following projects for a variety of clients; developed GRI G4 Training Course material specific for SMEs (to be used by GRI’s Certified Training Partners), established accredited course material on CSR management and reporting,

Prof. Dr. Michael Hopkins is CEO of MHC International Ltd (MHCi) a research and advisory company on CSR, employment and development. He has worked in the Corporate sector (as employee for IBM and ITT, and adviser to BP, BAT, Addax, UEFA, Intel, US Chamber of Commerce), the United Nations (as employee for ILO, and adviser for UNDP, UNIDO, UNESCO, UNRISD, WFP), The World Bank and in Academia (IDS Sussex, QEH Oxford, Middlesex, Geneva, George Mason University, Brunel) and has held a number of Professorships (Middlesex, Brunel, George Mason University). He is a PhD economist with a strong focus upon measurement, employment issues and executive education especially in emerging market economies.
Over 2007 to May 2013, he was Founder and Director of Graduate Executive Programmes on CSR at the University of Geneva in Switzerland (www.corporateresponsibility.ch). He is also CEO of the CSR and Financial Institute, a subsidiary of MHCi, that offers workshops and a Diploma on CSR in around 15 cities across the world from London to New York to Nairobi to Mumbai (www.csrfi.com). He is also the Founder of CSR Meetups now held in New York, Washington DC, London, Amsterdam, Geneva, Dubai, Athens and Mauritius. He holds a number of advisory positions such as UEFA where he developed a CSR strategy for 54 Football Associations across Europe; the US Chamber of Commerce where he started its review and database of corporate activity in development across the world that is now funded by Microsoft and was Senior Adviser on development issues to the Deputy Prime Minister of Somalia where he developed a programme to employ 1 million young Somalis.
Before working full-time with MHCi, Michael worked in the HQ of ITT in London, was Research Fellow at IDS, University of Sussex and Senior Economist at the ILO’s HQ in Geneva, where he introduced the ‘basic needs’ development strategy, founded its World Employment Report and was Secretary for all UN agencies Panel of Econometricians. During his time at the ILO he was Visiting Professor at the Universities of Uniandes and Valle in Colombia teaching labour economics, and was Chief Economist of the Netherlands Antilles where he directed its socio-economic plan in which he wrote its tourist plan that led to today’s vibrant tourist market in Curacao. He also wrote the sustainable tourism plan for the Maldives in the mid 1990s and teaches sustainable tourism as part of the three aspects of CSR – social, economic and sustainable environmental development.
He has also worked on developing and evaluating human resources and labour market issues in over 125 countries around the world, inter alia, Colombia, Brazil, Cote d’Ivoire, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Dubai, South Africa, Malaysia, China, India, Philippines, Vietnam, Portugal, and Azerbaijan. A widely published author with 12 books and over 120 published articles – his most recent books on CSR were The Planetary Bargain: CSR Matters (Routledge, re-published 2010) and CSR and International Development (Routledge, republished 2010). He also blogs with CSRwire and in MHCi regular Monthly Features which are now in their 14th year.
He was included in the 2012 top thought leaders in Europe and the Middle East in influencing the social, economic and sustainability of companies and in the 2013 top 100 thought leaders in the world by Trust of America http://trustacrossamerica.com. In 2014 he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for CSR by the University of Delhi, India and also in 2014 an Honorary Doctorate from London Metropolitan University, London, UK for his work on CSR and institution building.

Background on Concepts
Integrated Reporting is a process founded on integrated thinking that results in a periodic integrated report by an organization about value creation over time and related communications regarding aspects of value creation.
An integrated report is a concise communication about how an organization’s strategy, governance, performance and prospects, in the context of its external environment, lead to the creation of value in the short, medium and long term.
Sustainability reporting helps companies to implement corporate social responsibility into their daily business and to report transparently on the social, economic and environment.
